John Wick in Rome

In the aftermath of the destruction of John Wick's house by Camorra boss Santino D'Antonio, John met Santino at a museum. During their conversation, Santino requested John for one favor: he must kill his own sister Gianna D'Antonio for him to replace her position in the High Table. Santino told John that her coronation to the High Table is held in Rome.

When John arrives in Rome, Santino orders Ares to observe him. There, he enters the Rome Continental. Upon entering the lobby, he meets the hotel's manager Julius. During their meeting, Julius recalled a long time when John last visited Rome and asked John if he is here for the Pope for a reason. John then responded with a no. After their small conversation, Julius handed him their hotel card leading to one of their finest rooms. After checking into the hotel, John visits the Sommelier, Cartographer, and Tailor in preparation for his assassination of Gianna. John then arrives on the night of Gianna's coronation party in the D'Antonio Estate held in the Baths of Caracalla. Before reaching the main site of the coronation, John traversed a catacomb passageway to get to the main site of the coronation. He then proceeds after concealing part of his equipment, such as the rest of his firearms. In the coronation, Gianna D'Antonio was seen walking along the red carpet accompanied by her bodyguards with Cassian among them, one of the hitmen John Wick used to associate with. While Gianna greets her guests, Cassian informs her that Akoni is waiting for her, one of the men likely associated with her "deals" at the Table. Gianna then instructs Cassian to keep her guests entertained while she does her makeup in a luxurious room with a large bathtub filled with candles. When she looks at herself in the mirror, John appears on her back. John and Gianna had a conversation regarding Santino's plot to kill her and the marker that was used by him. After their talk, Gianna then undresses and proceeds to slit both of her wrists in front of John. Gianna then quotes "I've lived my life my way, and I'll die my way.". Then proceeds to take a bath with blood flowing in the tub. John slowly approaches her holding her hand until she dies. John then takes a shot at Gianna's head and leaves the room.

On his way out, he encounters Cassian, who asks if he is on duty. John responded with a yes. The two hitmen shoot at each other with their firearms. While being chased by Gianna's men, John proceeds into the coronation concert where he starts killing. In Gianna's tub, Cassian quickly returns to the room, only to discover his boss's dead body. After the shooting in the coronation, He then returns to the catacombs, where he meets Ares. A second battle with exchanging gunfire with John Wick against the Camorra mob. After a long battle, John emerged from the tombs and the estate and began walking along the road. After a while, he ran into Cassian again after attempting to hit John with the car bumper. Cassian and John combat once more, this time from the street to the stairs, till they reach the Rome Continental. Julius witnessed the two fights inside the hotel and asked both of them to stop since such ''business'' is not allowed on Continental grounds. Julius then told Cassian and John to handle it with a drink in their lounge bar. With both knowing what their drinks were, the two had a small conversation regarding the killing of Gianna D'Antonio. John then saw Ares sitting in the lounge the whole time. After a tough night, John then resting in his room when suddenly Santino calls him. Knowing that he was betrayed when killing her sister, John then cuts off his call. Santino then calls the Administration to open an account with John's name to process a $7 million bounty on his head in an open contract. The next morning, John then proceeds to check out the Rome Continental. Accompanied by Julius, he leads John into a safe passageway leaving Rome.

Deleted Scene[]

John Wick was shown approaching a church building in Vatican City filled with nuns, priests, and deacons. He then approaches the reception desk of the church stating his name "John". The receptionist then checks his name in the list, calls for clarification, and then tells him to proceed to a room. In the huge room with huge windows and a long red carpet heading towards the priest's office table, John then approaches the priest and states Santino's sister "Gianna D'Antonio''. The priest stands and calls someone. It shows the Cardinal of the Catholic church approaching John. He then confronts John and then tells a Latin phrase: "Fortune favors the bold". He then held his hand towards John and then John replied with a kiss in the Cardinal's hand without physical contact. The Cardinal then nods slightly following John leaving the Cardinal's presence.

Note: This possibly indicates that the Church and the Papacy have ties to the criminal underworld in the franchise.
