The Red Circle is a high class nightclub in New York City. Located on Chambers Street in Lower Manhattan, it was known to be highly popular both in and out of the criminal underworld.
History[]
John Wick[]
Prior to his death, the club was owned by Viggo Tarasov, a Russian crime lord who controlled most of New York. After his son Iosef stole John Wick's car and killed his dog, Viggo realized John would come after him and placed Iosef at the Red Circle for his own protection. John eventually made his way to the club, and witnessed Iosef's friend Victor enter through the VIP entrance. He managed to convince the bouncer Francis to accept his offer of mercy so as to get inside unhindered, and proceeded to the private bathroom, where he took out Victor's private security and interrogated him on Iosef's whereabouts, after which he snapped his neck and killed him.
John proceeded down to the bathhouse where Iosef was hiding. After initially sneaking his way in, John was eventually discovered and a brutal shootout ensued throughout the club which ended with Iosef escaping with help from Gregori, and John barely surviving an encounter with Kirill, Viggo's top enforcer. After escaping the club, Iosef phoned Victor to ask where he was. John, having stolen Victor's phone, intercepted the call and told him that Victor was dead, and that Iosef would soon be next. This finally convinced Iosef of how serious the situation actually was.
Layout[]
The Red Circle is a large nightclub situated on the east end of Chambers Street in Lower Manhattan. It was seen to have at least three floors, including a private bathhouse in the basement. Just above that on the ground floor is the main club, where the dance floor is located and loud music is played. The ground floor also has a VIP bathroom, where guests can prepare before heading downstairs into the bathhouse.
The third and final floor has a lounge area where clubgoers can sit, drink and socialize. Just beyond that is another, larger lounge area with a balcony overlooking the dance floor. The club can be accessed from at least two known entrances, a main one with three distinctive arches that people queue to enter, and a private VIP entrance a bit further down the street, that was guarded by Francis. The club's logo, a red circle as the name would suggest, can be found in numerous places around the club, including the private bathroom and in the center arch just above the main entrance. Being a mob owned establishment, the club boasts an impressive security detail, with armed guards situated in all areas of the building. Prior to the assault by John Wick in which almost all members of the security team were massacred, they wore red shirts and black suits as their dress code to match the club's color motif.
