Inimicus (pronounced ini-mik-cus) is one of the Continental Hotel's emergency protocols. Inimicus is only declared when an individual violates the "neutral" status of Continental Hotels. During Inimicus, business may be conducted on continental grounds, however, only against individuals found to be in violation of Continental rules. Inimicus can be initiated by pressing a red button in the hotel manager's office, or by order of the hotel manager.

An Inimicus poster, ordered against Winston Scott and Charon.

When a Continental hotel is placed under Inimicus, an alarm will sound, along with a PA announcement, stating "Red light active. Inimicus on Continental ground." A message will be delivered to each guests' room via a tube mailing system, containing an image of each person that can be targeted.

Upon the apprehension of an Inimicus target/s, an undisclosed award will be honoured to the respective guest.

Cormac attempts to activate the Inimicus alarm.

Cormac O'Connor has Winston abducted and brought to the New York Continental. He demands to know where the coin press is, but is taunted by Winston. Cormac, growing desperate from the Adjudicator's pressure, orders Charon to open the balcony doors, threatening to have Winston thrown off. Jenkins then kills Cormac's men and initiates phase two of their plan.

An active Inimicus alarm.

Cormac dives under his desk and attempts to activate the hotel's Inimicus alarm, before realising the alarm was sabotaged. Cormac reaches for his shotgun, but shocked to find Charon pointing it at him. Cormac berates Charon for betraying him, as Winston demands that Cormac hand over the armoury keys. Winston, growing impatient, orders Charon to kill Cormac. However, Charon is hesitant, allowing Cormac to escape.

Lemmy's image being printed on an Inimicus poster.

Cormac is spotted by hotel CCTV, signalling to the camera operator to place the hotel under Inimicus. The hotel alarm sounds as guests arm themselves and Inimicus posters are sent throughout the hotel. Later, Lemmy is spotted by hotel CCTV and made an Inimicus target.

Cormac later offered two million dollars for Winton's head, and a million for each member of Winston's team, presumably in addition to the undisclosed Inimicus award.

The mailing system was partially destroyed by Hansel, who sent a grenade through in order to kill Lemmy. Winston, Charon, and Lemmy would further weaponize the mailing system, using it to mail improvised explosives, killing guests and destroying hotel infrastructure.

John Wick[]

Prior to the events of John Wick, the Inimicus protocol was likely phased out, like the defensionem protocol, in favour of deconsecration and excommunicado, as the High Table's logistics improved, allowing them to evacuate guests and dispatch heavily armed enforcers to apprehend violators within seconds.

The pipe mailing system was also presumably phased out, due to it posing a unacceptable security risk and technological advancements, making it obsolete.
