Biography[]

Background[]

Little is known about Eve's past. As a child, she and her father Javier, an assassin, were on the run from the Cult, leading to the death of Eve's mother. One night, the Cult's Chancellor wanted to retrieve Eve and attacked her residence, killing her guards and fatally wounding Javier as he helped Eve escape. After her father was murdered, the New York Continental owner Winston Scott brought her to the Ruska Roma, where she trained to be a ballerina but also a Kikimora assassin to avenge Javier's death under the tutelage of Nogi and The Director, who was also the adopted mother of John Wick. Over the years, Eve had heard stories from fellow students about John Wick.

"Fight like a girl."
—Nogi to Eve Macarro

Twelve years past after Eve was taken under the wing of The Director. Eve trains as a ballerina and Kikimora assassin. She decides that she is ready to graduate as a Kikimora. The Director agrees with her and puts her into the final test, where two people have to reassemble a Glock, shooting the other when they finish. Eve hesitates but eventually finishes first and shoots the former Kikimora, where she gets a flashback to when she shot the Cultist who was fighting her father. After, Eve sees John Wick entering the theater alongside The Director to discuss matters. Eve decides to eavesdrop, waiting outside for John. As he walks out, Eve asks questions, mainly how she can get out and start doing what John is known for. He responds, telling her that she is already doing what he does, but she still has a choice to leave this life, with the door to the life of killing opening sooner than she thinks.

Shortly, Eve completes many contracts. In one contract, Eve identifies a Cultist using the X mark on his wrist. Eve asks the Director about the Cult, wanting revenge for what they did to her family. The Director prohibits Eve from pursuing the Cult due to a truce between the Ruska Roma and the Cult. Eve stills decides to proceed with her plan and goes to meet Winston. Winston is reluctant to give her any info due to the Cults reputation, but Eve gives him the gold coin that she received from him as a child. Winston reveals to her that one Cultist, Daniel Pine, is residing at the Prague Continental with a bounty of two million. Eve travels there and books a room near Pine's.

Several Cultist are also there, lead by Lena Macarro, waiting to complete the bounty. Eve sneaks into Pine's room and discovers his daughter Ella. Pine reveals to Eve that they are running from the Cult. When the Cultist realize that Eve isn't going to kill Pine, Lena raises the bounty on Pine. The Cultist and other assassins attack them. Pine entrusts Ella to Eve and they fight their way outside. Unfortunately, Pine is wounded and shot by Dex, while Lena incapacitates Eve. Ella is kidnapped by the Cultist and taken to their location. Waking up, Eve and two Cultist are lined up by the Continental staff for breaking the rules. Eve tells them that she was just defending herself. The staff spare her and execute the two Cultist.

Eve goes to purchase firearms from arms dealer Frank, but is attacked by the Cult. After killing the Cultist, Frank decides to give her help on the location of the Cult's base. She makes her way to the town of Hallstatt, Austria, where she comes to find out that the whole town is filled with Cultist. Eve is then captured by the Cult is met face to face with The Chancellor. He discovers that Eve is Ruska Roma. The Chancellor then asks Eve why she is here when she can live with her family, and Eve reveals her want for revenge for what they did to her family, while he reveals that Pine is his son and Ella is his granddaughter. He remembers Eve, telling Lena that she is Eve's older sister. Eve uses this as a chance to escape and runs into a house before being confronted by Lena. They both argue, Lena saying that their father thought Eve could have a normal life and Eve saying that she could have until the Cult came.

Seeing both of them talk, the Chancellor orders both of their deaths. The Cult throw grenades into the house, killing Lena while Eve escapes. The Chancellor also calls The Director, declaring war due to the infraction in the truce caused by Eve, despite the Directors stating that Eve had disobeyed her orders. To satisfy the dispute, The Director sends John Wick to take out Eve, which the Chancellor comes to terms with. John arrives, where he locates Eve and defeats her, telling her to leave. Eve pleads for revenge, so John decides to give her one hour to finish what she had started before he will have no choice but to finish the contract and kill her.

Eve continues to fight against the Cult, with John helping her by killing Dex and several others. The Chancellor flees with Ella when things start to ramp up. Eve stops them and the Chancellor tries to reason with Eve, but she shoots him and takes Ella with her. John departs as well. She then returns Ella with a recovering Pine.

While Eve returns back to the theater and watches her old friend Tatiana perform ballet, the Cult put a bounty of five million on Eve's head. Realizing that the bounty is spreading around, especially in the theater, she leaves.
