Daisy was a dog given to John Wick as a present from his wife Helen Wick shortly after her death. Daisy was killed during a home invasion by Iosef Tarasov, sparking a rage in John and was the trigger for him returning to his past.

History

Background

Daisy was a posthumous gift given by Helen Wick to help her widowed husband John Wick to cope with his grief after Helen died from terminal illness.

John Wick

Daisy was delivered to John a few days after Helen's death. Daisy instantly took up to John and the two bonded together, even going out for car ride with John. However, when Iosef Tarasov and his thugs broke into John's house and stole his prized Mustang, Daisy was tragically killed during the home invasion. After her death, John is seen clutching her lifeless body in a depressive state and later buries her outside of his house.

Legacy

Daisy's death played a pivotal role in John retuning to the assassin life he left behind five years prior. As the last thing he had of his wife was taken away, John sought revenge on Iosef and hunted him down, killing scores of men in the process before finally killing Iosef and avenging Daisy's death.

Skills

Despite her young age, Daisy was easily able to persuade John to do what she wants. She whines at night to him to allow her to snuggle in bed, wake up, and go out to do her business. Subtle changes like these slightly changed Wick's depressing routine for a short time until her unfortunate death.

Personality

In the short amount of time John got to know her, Daisy took to him as soon as he took her out of the cage, greeting him with a lick. Her overall demeanor was kind and loyal. Regardless of what John did, Daisy always tried to stick with him. Whether laying on his bed, waking him up minutes before the alarm went off or rushing to the passenger seat while he goes for a drive. In her last moments, when Iosef and his gang beat John, all she could do was yelp helplessly out of concern for her owner before they killed her too.

• Daisy is a Beagle, a breed of Hound which is used for hunting.

• It is possible that Daisy is named after Helen's bracelet, which has daisies. Presumably, daisies were her favorite flower.
• At first, the idea of a dog being killed wasn't going to be used due to concerns of criticism from the audience. But was won through an argument that it was "key" to John Wick's story.
• It is a possibility that daisy the pup was named after the protagonist of DOOM, Doomguy's pet rabbit, who also shared the name Daisy. After both pets were killed both characters went on a killing spree.
