Chad Stahelski is an American stuntman and director most well known for John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4.
Career[]
Stahelski started his career with a bang in the movie The Crow as a stunt double for Brandon Lee. After Lee's fatal accident, Stahelski took over for him and did the acting and stunts, and they used CGI to make it look like Lee. Three years later, after finding little work, Stahelski co-founded 87eleven action design along with fellow stuntman and friend David Leitch. Eventually, he got his next big project in 1999, working as a stunt double for Keanu Reeves in The Matrix. He also worked as a martial arts stunt coordinator in two of its sequels. Eventually in 2014, Stahelski directed his first movie John Wick alongside David Leitch. He was able to connect with Keanu Reeves to play the lead role because of his previous work with him in The Matrix and The Replacements. John Wick was a hit, earning $88.8 million at the box office, and it also generated positive reviews, getting a sold 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. Stahelski has since directed four sequels: John Wick: Chapter 2, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum and the recently released John Wick: Chapter 4.
In February 2024, Lionsgate appointed Stahelski in overseeing the John Wick and Highlander franchises. Stahelski will have creative control across film, TV and all multimedia platforms.
